Why Do I Love Easter?

I Love Easter because I was caught up in religion. You know the type of person who says they were “born in the church.” Attending church regularly, going to Sunday school, singing in the choir, etc. all the while, empty on the inside.

At first, I didn’t realize something was missing until I got older. Then one day, as I was sitting on the pew at churh, the preacher preached a sermon about Jesus that the Holy Spirit delivered from his lips to my heart.

You see, I’ve heard many times about how Jesus came to earth to die for our sins. And how he was crucified, buried and rose from the dead. But this time, my heart was open and as a nine-year-old girl, I realized I needed to let Him all the way in.

So I did! And around this time of the year, I am so full just thinking about Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice. He could have left me in my pitiful state but He continued to knock on my heart, until I let Him in.

That’s why it doesn’t take much for me to praise Him. Just the thought that He looked down through time and decided to come to earth to die for my sins is more than enough for me to outwardly express my inward transformation.

And that’s why I love Easter.
